I will begin to ask myself these questions each day to try to check in with myself and take time to see where I am at psychically, mentally, and emotionally.
1. Is there anything bothering me from yesterday?
2. Do I feel resentment towards any person, place, or thing from yesterday?
3. Is there any dominating emotion helpd over from yesterday?
4. How am I feeling physically right now?
5. What do I need to take care of today?
6. Is there anything I am worried/anxious about today?
7. What can I do to bring myself closer to God today.
So I set out to answer these and am still stuck with what I am supposed to do with my answers.
1. Is there anything bothering me from yesterday?
Yes, so now do I list these or just acknowledge that there is a yes??
I am bothered by what I did not get done. I am bothered by unfairness in relationships.
2. Do I feel resentment towards any person, place, or thing from yesterday?
yes, towards several people.
3. Is there any dominating emotion held over from yesterday?
Yes, I feel anger, jealousy
4. How am I feeling physically right now?
My stomach hurts, I am anxious. I know today is going to be difficult. I want to sleep
5. What do I need to take care of today?
I need to shower and finish my notes from Friday
6. Is there anything I am worried/anxious about today?
yes, I know today will be challenging. Today is the day that I was adopted in 1981. It was a big celebration in my family, but mom was the one who always made a big deal about it. It was like a second birthday. My mom would always call, send flowers, and make sure I felt special on this day. She is gone. I know that no one else in my family will remember today or recognize it. I know this, so I have no expectation and no reason to think that anything will change. So I really have no reason to feel anything, but it does make me feel like a part of me is gone. Even though I am aware I feel anxious, angry, overwhelmed, and irritable.
7. What can I do to bring myself closer to God today.
My intention was to be present during church and to really try to pay attention and not get distracted. I decided to use a Psalms and enter "me" "my" where ever it stated your or you to make it personalized. Psalms 121: 3-8. I got very distracted and had a hard time paying attention, but I did go through the Psalms.
3 He will not let MY foot slip—
he who watches over ME will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over ME
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5The Lord watches over ME—
the Lord is MY shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm ME by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep ME from all harm—
he will watch over MY life;
8 the Lord will watch over MY coming and going
both now and forevermore.
So now what do I do. Sit here. Now I am aware of how I feel and I hate it. It makes me uncomfortable and wanting to make stupid decisions. I feel more depressed.
